Could I have done it differently? Should I have said something? How would I have reacted in a similar situation? Мы, люди - странные существа. Смотрим с надеждой в будущее, но никак не можем перестать вспоминать и анализировать дела минувших дней. И вот мы лежим в кровати и с сожалением вспоминаем упущенные возможности и генерируем классные реплики для диалогов, которые вряд ли когда-нибудь уже состоятся. Если вы сегодня задались вопросом :”Should I have given my students more exercises to practice past modals?”, то вам повезло, потому что сегодня мы как раз подготовили 5 упражнений для проработки этой темы.

4. Create responses to the following situations using should/shouldn’t have, would/wouldn’t have, could/couldn’t have:

  1. You shouted at your girlfriend yesterday and now she is really angry and doesn’t want to talk to you.

  2. You’re broke because you’ve spent all your money on parties.

  3. You forgot to write an important email to one of your key clients, and they are dissatisfied with the service.

  4. You forgot to take your umbrella and now you are soaked to the bone.

  5. You missed your flight because you got stuck in a traffic jam.

  6. You broke your arm when you slipped on the ice, because you were busy texting and weren’t careful enough.

  7. You forgot to water the plants and some of them have died.

 

5. Translate the following sentences into English:

  1. Я был в магазине и мог бы купить хлеб, но я не знал, что он закончился. Тебе стоило мне позвонить заранее.

  2. Мне не стоило так грубо с ней разговаривать.

  3. Я могла бы купить машину, но решила потратить эти деньги на путешествия.
