The Story of Easter

 

Put these sentences in the right order.

 

1. A crown made out of thorns was put on his head.

2. While Jesus was on Earth he taught everyone about God’s love and healed people from their sickness.

3. “Don’t be afraid” - said an angel. - “He’s not here. He’s risen.”

4. Soldier watching this whole thing said “This man truly was the son of God.”

5. So they took Jesus before the Roman ruler Pilate.

6. But Jesus knew he had to die to forgive his people for their sins.

7. He taught them that what he did was the only way they could be forgiven and be with God forever.

8. They made plan to arrest him to get rid of him once and for all.

GAME

 

Here’s the list of some Easter traditions which are quite common in different countries. Match the right tradition with the right country.

 

  1. On Easter Monday boys sprinkle perfume or cologne playfully over a young woman’s head, and ask for a kiss.

  2. Citizens of one town in this country make a giant omelette with 4,500 eggs and serve it in the main square.

  3. These people are known not only as crazy football fans but also for their tradition of creating straw dolls to represent Judas whom they hang in the streets and beat them up.

  4. Children there dress up as Easter witches. They wear long skirts, multicolor shawls and paint their cheeks red. They go from home to home in their neighborhoods exchanging paintings and drawings for the sweets.

  5. This tradition is called “Pot Throwing” and takes place on the morning of Holy Saturday. People throw pots, pans and other cutlery out of their windows, smashing them on the street.

  6. On Easter Monday men spank women with handmade whips made of willow and decorated with ribbons. According to the legend, willow is the first tree which blooms in the spring, so its branches are supposed to give the tree’s vitality and fertility to the women.

  7. Here people have egg fights and whoever keeps his egg unbroken is considered the winner and supposed to be the most successful member of the family in the coming year.

  8. Here you can see that the trees on the streets which are decorated with the Easter eggs. Some of the trees have thousands of colorful eggs hanging on them.
