Новогоднего настроения не может быть слишком много, поэтому, чтобы помочь вам и вашим студентам настроиться на праздничный лад, мы подготовили для Вас план урока на тему самого уютного праздника в году - Рождества. Time to spruce things up!

 

WARMUP

 

 

Imagine that you’re presented with a challenge - to choose what you’ll never celebrate again: Christmas, New Year or your Birthday. 

  • What would you choose? 

  • Why? 

  • Which of these holidays do you usually celebrate on a larger scale?

 

VOCABULARY

 

Study the following vocabulary. Match the words with the objects in the picture above. 

 

  • Carol - a religious song or popular hymn that people sing at Christmas.

  • Cracker - a decorated paper tube that makes a sharp noise ("crack!") and releases a small toy when two people pull it apart.

  • Egg-nog - a traditional Christmas drink made of alcohol with beaten eggs and milk

  • Nativity play - a play that tells the story about the birth of Jesus Christ, usually performed by children. 

  • Elves - small creatures with pointed ears that live with Santa Claus and act as his helpers.

  • Mince pie - a pie that is filled with mincemeat (a mixture of apple, dried fruit, and nuts), often eaten at Christmas.

  • Bauble - A shiny ball that is used to decorate a Christmas tree. 

  • Stocking filler - a small cheap Christmas present.

  • Rejoice - to feel happy or show happiness.

  • Yule - an old word for Christmas.
